No plants or produce for sale as of 03/12/12 but we do have some eggs.
We started Arctic Kiwi seeds about a month ago and they are up and about 1 inch tall. Gee, a couple more years and we’ll be able to sell them.
We have started under grow lights the first of our lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, onions and leeks. We planted some lettuce outside under a catapillar tunnel, as well. We’ve also started fingerling potatoes in pots in the hoop house.
Other than that, it’s cold outside and things are still sleeping. Every once in a while we go outside with a pair of scissors and clip off a few Redbor Kale leaves for our morning omelets. One person visiting the farm asked about this practice. Aren’t they frozen? Well yes, we responded. What’s the difference between cutting them frozen on the plant or pulling them out of the freezer? Less work that way! (We love our kale.)
Garden catalogues are coming in a few each day and we’re busy gazing over them wondering what new things we’ll try this year. We’d be happy to grow some plants for YOUR garden if you’re local. Mailing them out is a fairly complicated process which we’re not ready for yet. Seeds are also kind of in a category of their own. Nope, you’ll have to come and get your plants here. Just tell us what you need and give us a couple of months advanced notice.
